On October 18, members of CMRA participated in the Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) at the local Scouting District’s Fall Cub Rally in Columbia. Billed as the largest Scouting event in the world, JOTA is held every year in October. Scouts from all over the world get on the air to communicate using a variety of radio modes. The scouts appeared to have a great time practicing keying their names in CW and making contacts with Scouts from as far away as Norway and Brazil. The event was unfortunately cut short due to weather but was judged by all in attendance to have been a success. In all, eight local Amateur Radio Operators came out to demonstrate a variety of radio technologies and concepts and to introduce young people to our hobby.
